Top 5 Things to Do in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is good to travel all year long. This city has so much to offer, and when you add good weather into the equation, I think it is one of the best cities in South East Asia.
We have a lot of students in the school especially during Summer Time (June to August) and they all want to know about some of the best things to do in order to make the most of their time in Kuala Lumpur. So, here's our personal list of the top 5 things to do in Kuala Lumpur

1. A walk at Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang (Malay [ˈbu.keet ˈbi.ntaŋ]; known as Bintang Walk or Starhill in English, is the name of the shopping and entertainment district of Kuala LumpurMalaysia. It consist of the Bukit Bintang street and its other surrounding areas. The area has the most prominent landmark shopping centres, al-fresco cafés, swanky bars, night markets, as well as hawker-type eateries. This area is popular among tourists and locals, especially among the youths. A part of Bintang Walk is designated as an "Arab Street” where you can find many restaurants such as Lebanese, Moroccan, Yemeni and many more.

2. Batu Caves
The Batu Caves in Malaysia are one of the most important Hindu religious especially during Thaipusam. In this site, they have 113 years old temple where you can see interesting Hindu artwork. Once arriving at Batu Caves, you will meet with the majestic Golden Statue of Lord Murugan, the Hindu God of War. The most interesting part is that to reach to the caverns, one must climb up 272 steps. Along the way up, expect to be entertained by a tribe of monkeys, you may take pictures but pay attention to these monkeys who are constantly looking for food (if you have any food in your bag) be extra careful with your bag!
Resting points along the stairs provide nice views of the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur.
3. Central Market
A place where history meets art, you can find plenty of souvenirs of Malaysian Cultural, art and history. You can get a little of everything in here, for instance you can get your portrait drawn on the spot for you, or grab a quick snack on the 1st floor.  You can find t-shirts, traditional attires, paintings and many other Malaysian art souvenirs here, the best thing that it is indoor and away from the heat! Also, you can bargain for a better price!

4. Islamic Art Museum
No doubt that this is on our number 2 spot.  They have one of the best collections of Islamic decorative arts in the world like jewellery, calligraphy pottery, old artifacts and scripts and also textiles. You will be stunned by the interior, especially with the tileworks. Don’t misunderstood this as a place ONLY for Muslims, anyone can visit to know and learn more about the art and craft of Muslim not only from Malaysia, but also from Iran, Saudi and many more Muslim Countries.  This is another great place to get cool souvenirs.

5. KLCC TWIN TOWERS
One of the famous “twins’ in the world; Standing at 451.9metres, it was the tallest building in the world from 1998 – 2004 and still the tallest twin towers in the world. The bridge that connects the two towers together is opened to public in the morning but only limited to a certain numbers of visitors only. But it is definitely worth the queue for a breathtaking view from the KLCC Bridge.  The building looks like two sweet corns from far  Jokes aside, it is also our favourite shopping destination “Suria” , where you can find good brands it in. In the evening, take a walk at the lakeside where we can enjoy water fountain shows at the KLCC Park. KLCC is also home to the Aquaria Underwater Centre where we can find many ocean creatures and learn more about sea lives.

Have you been to Kuala Lumpur? What would you recommend?
